Zanzibar

Stone Town, the city where Freddy Mercury spent part of his childhood, is also known for having had one of the largest slave markets in the world... descending into the dungeons where the slaves were held made me feel sick, the lingering bad energy from the walls and the lack of air was immediately palpable... I had to leave, see the daylight, and looking up, I found beauty and delicacy in nature once again... lace-like leaves and branches in a midday backlight. A universal photo that complements both light and darker environments.
