Danakil depression - Ethiopia
Lake Karoum is a salt lake right in the scorching heat of the Danakil Depression. You have to travel with an armed guard because the area’s super unstable, and there’s nowhere to hide in the middle of the desert ;-) But honestly, this photo wouldn’t have the same depth without the guard—it really adds context and highlights the raw beauty of the harsh landscape.
